Serpentine Chip Bracelet.

Serpentine is a group of green stones found all over the world, everywhere from Canada to Greece to Korea to New Zealand.

Historically, serpentine has frequently been confused with jade, but the chemical composition is actually quite distinct.

This grouping contains around twenty related minerals, with two different distinct types of formation, antigorite and chrysotile.

Antigorite stones are solid, while chrysotile ones are fibrous.

Chrysotile serpentine stones are actually a type of asbestos, which is a highly dangerous mineral that causes severe respiratory problems due to the inhalation of the crystals.

For this reason, chrysotile stones are not in use for metaphysical purposes, and you should stay far away from them.

Chrysotile serpentine is found mainly in Canada, where the town of Asbestos was once one of the most significant serpentine mines.

Antigorite serpentine are relatively soft stones, and they are notable for their shiny green surface.

This colouration is due to the presence of minerals including chromium and cobalt in the stone’s magnesium silicate base.

Serpentine can range from translucent to opaque, and different opacities of stone can have slight variations in magical power.

As a general rule of thumb, a translucent stone will have a stronger effect on psychic phenomena, while a more opaque stone has a clearer effect on the measurable, material world, but the differentiation is rather minor.

Why Would You Use Serpentine?

The word “serpentine” derives from the word “serpent.”

While this name was almost certainly chosen because of its green colour, it reflects many ideas about the serpentine stone’s qualities that date back to the ancient world.

Snakes were often thought to be harbingers of evil in western thought, but this doesn’t mean that serpentine is an evil stone.

In fact, it is one of the most historically used stones for detecting evil and protecting against both bad luck and intentional malicious behaviour – even against dark magic.

Many stones that dispel negativity are notable for their dark colours.

As the darkness of those stones disguises their owners from the negative energies floating loose in the psychic milieu of the world.

Serpentine, by contrast, is usually not very dark – sometimes it has a deep green colour, but just as often, it is a light or bright green.

Serpentine stones are excellent for developing a distinct inner peace that makes you untouchable by negative energy.

Instead of this stone “sucking up” the bad energy from around you like a magnet, it will harden your psychic “shell” and make it impossible for that bad energy to permeate.

You will develop a personal strength and serenity that negativity will simply bounce off of, especially if you combine it with the April Birthstone.

This is especially important if you are dealing with people who have specific malicious intent towards you and doubly important if those people are at all inclined to use any sort of metaphysical or magical practice against you.

Serpentine is a classic curse-breaking stone if you think that someone is throwing negative psychic energy or even premeditated spells with ill intent your way.

Serpentine can also be used to attract positivity as well as dispelling negativity.

Green is traditionally a colour that has been associated with both love (it is the colour of the heart chakra) and money (why else would American money be green?).

Green stones of all varieties, including serpentine, can be used to attract those things towards you and into your life.

This is an excellent stone to bring into your life if you want to put up barriers between yourself and psychic attack, while also pulling positive energy into your life.

How Will Serpentine Help You?

Serpentine stone is one of the best stones for delivering the unique “one-two punch” of protecting against negativity while drawing in positivity.

The majority of stones do either one or the other (or, at the very least, do one much better than the other).

For example, obsidian will do a great job of protecting you against negative energies, but if you want to fill that void with positivity, you need to bring in another stone to help.

The opposite applies to, for example, peridot – it will bring in positivity, but won’t do much against negativity that might already be present.

Serpentine stone is one of the unique few that is equally good at protecting against negative energy while also attracting positive energy, especially if you combine it with one of the Yellow Crystals.

This means that it is an extremely versatile stone, and perfect for the minimalist crystologist!

Serpentine is one of the best stones you can use to improve your career.

Especially if you work in a highly competitive industry (but really, what industry isn’t competitive these days?), you might feel like people are constantly scheming or “out to get you.”

Serpentine will ensure that their attempts to harm you bounce off of you with no effect whatsoever.

At the same time, because of its positive effects on both emotions, people who matter in your field will see you in a more positive light, and develop an instinctive “good feeling” about you, which is something that matters enormously in almost every career field!

Just to round off the full effects of serpentine on your career, the association of green with money will bring monetary gain your way – possibly in the form of a promotion, a raise, or a new career opportunity.

Serpentine is also a great stone to use when you’re starting a new relationship, just like Gaspeite. It will keep away people whose values don’t align with yours, and especially those who would use you and toss you aside!

At the same time, it opens your heart to trying new things while protecting you against any potential dangers that might be associated with that.

When using serpentine to influence your relationships, you will find yourself surrounded by far more positive potential partners than if you weren’t using it!
