"Ururangi", is the Maori word for "Merope", one of the many stars that forms the Matariki star cluster.

Matariki is the Maori name for the star cluster known as the Pleiades.

Its annual ascent in the skies marks the beginning of the Maori New Year—a time filled with profound cultural significance, symbolizing renewal, togetherness, aspirations, and remembrance.
