NZ Greenstone Toki with Koru Pendant - 70mm
NZ Greenstone Toki with Koru Pendant.
Toki.
Maori designs all come with a spiritual meaning, and in the case of the Toki the meaning is one of strength, control, determination and focus, everything one needs when one is carving.
This is a great gift for anyone needing inner strength or determination.
Great to wear, great to hold in your hand when you need its assistance.
This design represents the Toki or Adze ("adz" in American English) which was used to carve the great canoes and also to cut and work timber for the fortresses or Pahs in which the Maori lived.
It was such an important tool in Maori life that it became regarded as a symbol of power, authority and good character.
It is also the mark of the craftsman and artist.
Today when worn around the neck, the toki necklace (or pendant) is said to represent strength because of this distant association with the tribal chief and increased life force of the toki poutangata.
Koru.
Koru has been inspired by the unfurling fern frond, however in a spiritual sense the Maori use the Koru to represent peace, tranquility, personal growth, positive change and awakening.
The Maori called the stone Pounamu, which liberally translated means Green Stone.
